Packets Exercise

 

This exercise involves using winipcfg.exe to find an IP address and checking the speed of packet delivery with PING.

  1. Connect to ISP
  2. Run winipcfg.exe

Result: IP address 62.136.245.172

Running a packet marathon using PING.exe

  1. Open DOS window.
  2. At prompt type PING space then domain name of web server.
  3. Press Enter

Results:
www.cancernet.nci.nih.gov [128.231.164.8]
average time 230ms
www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.224.31]
average time 136ms
